ELIZABETH (BETTY) VOURIOT (nee GIBSON) With family by her side, Betty passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 90 years. Betty was predeceased by her husband Ron, the love of her life, and her son Mark. She will be greatly missed by her two children - Lawrence (Mariannick) and Suzanne, her grandchild Adelina, her sister Madeleine (Ross) Nugent, brother Bill (Lily) Gibson, and several nieces and nephews. Betty embraced each day and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her love, vivaciousness and joy were contagious and there was no one who sparkled quite like her. She lit up every room she entered and her kind and generous spirit extended to all of life and everyone in it. You always felt better after having spent time with her. Betty had such an amazing attitude and loved everything that life had to offer. She was a great runner, artist and singer when she was young. Later she enjoyed participating in curling, badminton and golf and she never stopped walking (at a fast pace!). Betty loved watching and going to baseball, football and soccer games and attending the opera, ballet and symphony. She never missed a party or a celebration! Other hobbies included gardening, shopping (especially for jewelry, hats and shoes!), baking and playing cards. Oh, and let's not forget dancing! Betty was a wonderful, loving wife and the best Mom and friend, who had unfailing love, warmth, forgiveness and understanding. This world became a much better place because of her. She will live forever in our hearts and will always be thought of lovingly and longingly until we meet again. The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Betty over the last few years and particularly to the wonderful staff at Riverview for their compassion, dedication and quality care. A celebration of Betty's life will take place on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Westworth United Church. Interment will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the charity of your choice. Desjardins 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

Condolences & Memories (14 entries)

  • Mrs Vouriot was always kind to me when I would come to visit Mark. She always had a smile on her face. And I felt like I belonged there . At a time in high school, I didn't belong anywhere. Sorry, I'm a little late on this. I remember, one time we got into a conversation on the bus and I missed my stop 4 stops..she was so much fun xo - Posted by: Brenda green (Friend of Mark and Larry) on: Jun 08, 2025

  • So sorry to hear of Mrs Vouirot passing. I just happened to be on the passiges page looking for a friend of my moms who had passed. I don't know why I typed her name in, but so glad I did, so I could share my sessions with her. I was very fortunate to meet Mrs Vouirot through one of my best friends, her son Marc. She was so funny with me and supportive in anything I had going on. The last time I saw her she got on the Corydon bus going home. We spotted each other and she sat down beside me. Talking about everything under the sun. Marc was a big topic for us, as we both missed him terribly. We talked so much I missed my stop and had to catch another bus back. I will never forget her. Marc and her will always be in my thoughts. - Posted by: brenda green (friend) on: Jul 24, 2016

  • My sisters and I grew up in the best community. As children we played with neighbourhood friends and our parents knew all the other parents. Mrs. Vouriot, as we were taught to address all elders, was sunshine in our lives. As a child her warm smile and laughter made you feel safe. Thank you Mrs. Vouriot for being such a great memory. My condolences to you all. - Posted by: Marie Buchok (nee Thomas) (neighbourhood friend of the family) on: Jul 05, 2012
