MARY LORRAINE BANNATYNE While surrounded by her family on July 3, 2012, Mary Lorraine Bannatyne (Taillieu), 77 years, passed peacefully. Mary will be lovingly remembered by; her husband Jim, her children Gail (Lyall), Scott (Jacqueline) (Courtney and Tyson), Cliff (Jackie) (Garrett and Kira) and Grant (Angie) (Zak, Kristine and Travis); and her brother Marcel. Mary was predeceased by her parents; Maria and Edmond Taillieu, her sisters; Alice, Angela, Godelieve, Margaret, Irene and Lorraine; her brothers George and Godfrey. Mary was very fond of her large family and extended family which included cousins, nieces, nephews, and spouses. Mom/Granny was a highly intelligent, incredibly strong, loyal, trusted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her loving mentorship formed who her children are today. She set the highest of examples, she was the best of mothers. We all loved her so. Mom's interests were predominantly regarding her children and grandchildren. Be it in sports or life, she was an avid supporter of their every deed, accomplishment and near accomplishment. She set the parenthood bar extremely high. Mom's wit, sense of humour and humbleness were some of her most endearing traits. But beneath those traits was the strongest of persons. She loved to laugh, she loved people, she loved life and all that came with it. She also truly loved the family dogs. Yes, they even sensed Mom was a very special person indeed. Mom had the very nicest of smiles, a smile which lit up the room in an instant. It would be impossible to describe all of what she meant to her family, her list of achievements, and the positive impact on those who she leaves behind to cherish her memory. Yes, she was that good, she was that great. The family would like to thank the nurses/staff/doctors of the 5th floor of the Grace Hospital, the Misericordia Interim Care Unit and the Grace Hospital Emergency ward. In keeping with her wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Charleswood United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society in memory of Mary Bannatyne. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
