Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS KRAYNYK On July 4, 2012, our beloved dad and grandpa passed away at the age of 87. Nick was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Sophie Kraynyk in 2005. He is survived by his daughters Emily and Gloria (Doug), and son Jeff (Laurie); seven grandchildren Ryan (Ayako), Lindsay (Steve), Alexander, Andrea, Owen, Avery and Wyatt; his sisters Annie and Olga, as well as many nieces and nephews. Nick was born on August 29, 1924, on a farm outside of Sundown, MB. He was one of nine children born to his parents, Jacob and Mary Kraynyk. Living on the farm was where Nick's passionate love of the outdoors blossomed. As a child he was known to spend hours and even days alone in the bush where he learned to hunt and trap. Nick and Sophie were married in Sirko, MB, in 1950, and lived on their farm where Emily and Gloria were born. They moved to Winnipeg in 1957, but kept their farm and enjoyed spending time there whenever they could. Nick loved his farm and his favorite past times there were hunting with Jeff, planting trees, building birdhouses and trapping. Nick worked for the City of Winnipeg until he retired. In their retirement years, Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling to California, Europe, Mexico, South Korea and B.C. Wherever Nick went he tried to bring something home that he could plant in his yard or at the farm. Nick gave his life to Christ in the late 1950s and was devoted to his church, Fort Richmond Assembly, for many years. The family would like to extend their thanks to the caring staff at Poseidon Personal Care Home and Golden Links Lodge. Funeral service to be held at Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo Place, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Interment to follow at Thomson In the Park.
