They raised their family in Winnipeg until moving to the family farm in Petersfield in 1975. Marlene was very active in her children's lives and the community. She volunteered with the Clandeboye Skating Club, Petersfield Curling Club and St. George's Wakefield Church. Marlene had a special gift of giving her time and energy to others. Whether it was for family, friends, or volunteering, the most important thing was to give of herself to others. Even toward the end, as her health was failing, she would ask how everyone else was doing. The family would like to thank Tudor House in Selkirk for their care of Marlene during the past four and a half years. A Celebration of Marlene's life will take place at Gilbart's Funeral Home in Selkirk (309 Eveline St.) on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing prior to service. Interment will follow at St. Georges Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, the Canadian Diabetes's Association, or a charity of your choice. One of my fondest memories with Auntie Marlene was when we used to go out to the farm for the winter birthday parties. She would always make a beautiful birthday cake with everyone's name on it. We enjoyed snowmobiling through the back field in the sleigh, cross country skiing to the highway and playing ping pong. I feel very blessed to have had her in my family she was a wonderful, loving and caring person with an awesome sence of humor. We will miss her dearly. - Posted by: Carol Barry (Niece) on: Jul 09, 2012
