ANNE TURCZYN (nee TRETIAK) February 25, 1924 - July 7, 2012 Anne passed away peacefully at sunset on July 7 with her family by her side at Concordia Hospital. She was in her 89th year. Anne will be lovingly remembered by Steve, her husband of 66 and one half years, daughter Judith of Winnipeg, son Bob (Vivian) of Saskatoon, grandson Jason Turczyn (Lana) and great-grandson Jaxon of Saskatoon, granddaughter Andrea (Rob) of Regina, sister Olga (Peter) Wasechko of Winnipeg, numerous cousins, along with their families and her friends. She was predeceased by her parents Sam and Mary Tretiak (nee Yaskiw). Anne was born in Brooklands (now a part of Winnipeg) and was raised in the Weston area. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and went on to attend Success Business College. She had a sharp eye for math and numbers and worked as a bookkeeper for Aronivitch Leipsic and Soudack Fur Auction Sales to name a few. Anne married the love of her life, Steve, on November 21, 1945 and together they raised their two children. She was a devoted wife and mother, whose family always came first. Anne was a wonderful homemaker and loved to entertain family and friends. In her spare time she knit, sewed and crocheted, making numerous afghans and baby outfits. She learned to decorate cakes and especially enjoyed making them for her grandchildren's birthdays, even if it meant taking them all the way to Saskatoon. She kept a bountiful garden and beautiful flowerbeds. Anne and Steve loved to travel; all over Canada, to Western and Eastern Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Texas, Florida and more. They settled on Mesa, Arizona as their winter home for over 15 years. When travel became more difficult, they chose Victoria, BC as their winter get-away spot. Anne was a member of Rossmere Golf Country Club for more than 40 years. She and Steve loved square, round and pattern dancing. She golfed and danced until her late 70's. She also volunteered at the Good Neighbours Seniors Centre for more than 10 years. The family marked Anne's 80th birthday with a donation to the Friends Butterfly Project at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory. Her name appears on the butterfly donor wall. The family would like to thank the Concordia Hospital staff who attended to Anne. Special thanks to nurses Eileen and Brynn (3rd floor E) for their kindness, care and compassion. The celebration of Anne's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3 or a charity of your choice. In Anne's own words - I have had a great life and I am truly blessed Anne - you are still my girl Love, Steve.
