HELEN BIDINOSTI November 16, 1939 - July 15, 2012 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, and grandmother, Helen Bidinosti, at the age of 72, with her family by her side, on July 15, 2012, at the Selkirk Hospital. Helen will be lovingly remembered, and sadly missed by her children Blaine (Brenda), Carla (Dwight), and Nola (Richard); three grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, and Jessica; brother Gerald (Darlene); sisters-in-law Reta Ross, and Iris Bidinosti; her aunty Rose Patrosson, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Nicholas Ruta (2005), mother Mary Ruta (2010), husband Victor (2010), aunty Ann Pertson (1991), and uncle Frank Pertson (1997). She was born on November 16, 1939, in Teulon, Manitoba to Nick and Mary Ruta of Petersfield. She grew up on a dairy farm, which only had the very basics, that meant no running water, or electricity, and only learned to ride a bike. She attended school in Winnipeg Beach to the eighth grade, and helped out on the farm. Later on, while working as a seamstress, in Winnipeg, she met, then married Victor on November 7, 1959. Together they farmed, and raised their three children. She was a devoted wife, and caring mother who took pride in caring for her family, and worked hard at helping to maintain the raising of the hogs, planting and weeding the garden, and grew a colourful assortment of garden flowers. She loved her flowers.... petunias, and red roses were her favourites. In her quiet time she enjoyed puzzles, and often played solitaire, and taught her children various card games. Later on she took a real interest in sudoku, and crossword puzzles. Her and Dad didn't have a lot of free time to travel, but when they did, it was always by car, out to the west coast, down to California, along the Grand Canyon, all through the mid west, anywhere there was good scenery. Later on they both looked so forward to their winter vacations in Chilliwack, BC, visiting with relatives and friends, and enjoying the cool mountain air. Her most recent enjoyment was spending time with her close friends and relatives, her children, and grandchildren, and meeting and getting to know her grandchildren's significant others: Josh, Mackenzie, and Donovan. She never turned down an opportunity to have coffee, lunch or dinner. Her hugs were sincere, and warm, her smile.. unforgettable. Our sincere and special thanks go out to her lifelong friends John and Donna, Jim, Doris, Lynn, and uncle Murray for your numerous calls, visits, compassion, friendship, and prayers. Also thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff for their care at the Selkirk Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 10:30 AM, in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB, with Reverend Ken Pawluk officiating. Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will take place at Dunara Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • I'm sorry for your loss - Posted by: Tonia (cousin) on: Aug 06, 2014

  • To Blaine, Carla and Nola I offer my condolences to you on this very sad news, as its been a very short time since your father has passed on. Due to myself being down in Halifax I don't get back to Winnipeg as much as I like to as the last time I saw your mom and dad was at a social for Joey in March 2004 and I had the privilege of speaking with both of them. Always so good and respected parents you had, the memories of them and of you my cousins at the farm when we were young will stay with me forever. Take care Allan Eastman. - Posted by: kenneth allan eastman (nephew of helen and victor) on: Jul 18, 2012

  • Blaine, Carla & Nola, I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences go out to you. I had the opportunity to have coffee with her in April while she was visiting mom and dad. Your mom was such a lovely lady with a wonderful laugh. She will be missed. I know my mom will miss her immensely. - Posted by: Cindy Doroschuk (Neighbour) on: Jul 18, 2012
