WILLIAM (BILL) HUCUL The family of William is sad to announce his passing on July 17, 2012. He is survived by his wife Alicia of 41 years; children Jeffery (Tanya), Laura (Dwayne) and Tracy (Shane); grandchildren Macayla, Merrick, MacKenna, Braden (Braden's father Brian), Harley and Harris. He also leaves behind sister Gwen and brother Gordon (Marilyn). Bill was born on July 30, 1951, in Gimli, MB and raised in Matlock, MB. He attended school in Matlock and when he moved to Winnipeg at the age of 14 he continued his schooling. Bill worked for 44 years and the last 27 years were for Winneco/Bobcat of Central Manitoba where he made many friends over the years. Bill loved fishing with his buddies Dino and Jason. Fishing rod in one hand and a cold Club beer in the other. He looked forward to his yearly no woman allowed weekend fishing trip with the boys at Youngs Wilderness Camp. Bill loved deer hunting whether in Hadashville with Donnie and Les or in Ashville with Hank (Gwen). He also volunteered for the Matlock Fire Department for over 20 years. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his dog Buddy . Alicia and the family would like to thank all our good friends for always being there when Bill needed them the most. You know who you are. Also a big thank you to the nurses at Stonewall Hospital for the excellent care Bill received. Bill requested there be no service and we are abiding by his wishes. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, July 28 starting at 1:00 p.m. with potluck supper at 4:00 p.m. at Dino Anniuk's, 705 Matlock Rd., corner of #9, NW corner. Donations to be made to CancerCare Manitoba if you wish to do so. Bill always said, "I may not have been rich but I was rich with friends". Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

We have known Bill for many many years as a neighbor and good friend; he was always smiling and said hello and chat for a while to any member of our family. He was always good to my children who where good friends with his son Jeff. Goodbye Bill. We will all miss you. - Posted by: Gloria Solleveld and family (Friend) on: Jul 25, 2012

So very sad to read of Bill's passing and our deepest sympathies to Alicia, Gwen, Gordon and families. Billy was a very special guy, who had many friends because he knew how to be a good friend. His big smile and easy laugh made him fun to be around when we were teens, carousing between Matlock and Gimli on the weekends when Billy would be down from Winnipeg. He could be quite the jokester! Then, after Bill fell in love and married Alicia, we saw him become a proud and devoted family man. Billy, even though years would sometimes pass between our get-togethers, it was always so good to see your big smile, hear that big laugh of yours and feel that great big hug! We will miss you! Love and Big Hugs, Terry and Robbie Bobby xoxo - Posted by: Robbie and Terry Bobby (friends) on: Jul 25, 2012

To Alicia and family. We were so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I hope you all will take comfort that he is not suffering and gone to his reward. We are thinking of you all and Alicia, we both know of our own cancer scares that he is now safe and free. God bess you all. Our condolences and prayers. Bill and my parents lived across the street from each other on Seaforth - North Kildonan. At a very young age I can still remember Bill bringing up an Arctic Cat - Kitty Cat snowmobile from his basement for me to scoot on around the neighbourhood. Ever since that moment I fell in love with snowmobiling and anything that could be ridden with a motor and that passion continues on to this day. As the years went on he would stop by my parent's place in Lockport trying to entice my Dad to get a motorcycle. Every time Bill came over on his bike I could just tell my Dad was longing for 2 wheels again. My greatest memory of all was Bill singing Iggy Diggy Li for me every time we went to visit him - I will never forget that song... EVER! Sorry for your loss, Matlock will never be the same. Stay strong. Brent Polson - Lockport - Posted by: Brent (Family Friend) on: Jul 23, 2012

My first meeting with Bill was with both having a guitar in hand and our two voices blending together in harmony around a camp fire and many fond memories of the weekends spent at Young's Wilderness Camp. - Posted by: Lorne Mehling (Friend from Young's Wilderness fishing group) on: Jul 23, 2012
