EVELYN FRANCIS SIGURDSON July 30, 1928 - July 18, 2012 With her family by her side, Evelyn Sigurdson passed away peacefully on July 18, 2012 at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Evelyn will be missed by her son, Bob (Maryn), her daughter Brenda (Mel); grand-children Stacey, Crystal, Tamara, Dana and Devon; and great-grandchildren Ciara and Mya. She will also be missed by sister Marianne (Tom), sister-in-law Carol (Dale) and her many nieces and nephews and their families. Born in Winnipeg, Evelyn was married to Christian Bjorn Sigurdson in September 1955. Mom raised her family in Fort Rouge before she and Chris retired to St. Vital. Chris, her husband of 43 years, predeceased her in November, 1998. Following Chris's passing, Evelyn spent many years at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home where she was well cared for. The family is incredibly thankful to all of the staff at St. Norbert for all of the love, friendship and support they offered Mom (affectionately referred to as Evy ), in her final years. They were like a second family to her. Mom's life was her family. After raising her own children she was particularly dedicated to her grandchildren, who loved her dearly. Mom loved babysitting, and having sleepovers with her five grandchildren. The kids will always remember their time enjoying movie marathons, playing cards, and waking up to have her famous breakfast of chocolate milk with Jell-O and Cool Whip. Those who know Evelyn will fondly remember her great sense of humour. She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, and for her ability to make those around her smile. Her sense of humour survived her until her final days. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
