JULIA BOHAYCHUK Peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2012, Julia Bohaychuk passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. Left to cherish Julia's memory are her daughter, Olga; son-in-law George; niece Janina and husband Tadek in Krakow; sister Maria and niece Halya (son John) in Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene (1985); daughter Sylvia (1993); sister, Anna and brother Mychailo in Poland. Mom was born in Stare Misto, Ukraine on April 15, 1923. She experienced the famine and war in Ukraine. After the war, she left her family and homeland, working her way through Germany and on to Canada via the Canadian Government domestic program for passage, arriving in February 1949. She met her future husband Eugene in Winnipeg and they married November 12, 1949, making Winnipeg their lifetime home. Mom and Dad arrived in Canada speaking only Ukrainian. Not only did they have to find work to support themselves, they also had to find time to learn and write English, becoming proud citizens in 1955. Mom was a wonderful, generous cook and loved her garden. She gave us all her love and wealth so we would not have to endure the hardships she had faced. Mom was able to stay in her own home because of the following people: Dr. D. Crawford for all the compassion and superb care, all the nursing staff and Homecare aides for treating Mom as family, Geriatric Medicine Units 6 and 7 - there are no words to express how special you all are - a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Special thanks to the Willis Colony, Olga, Margaret, Mary, Myla and Russell - you were always there for us. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193
