Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Captain Turner let a shy, low self-esteem young lady of twelve join his squadron over 30 years ago. He was patient and kind to me and I became one of the top air cadets under his command. When I won an award he travelled to Winnipeg to deliver it to me in my hospital room where I had back surgery. When I got married he proudly stood and gave a beautiful toast to the bride. Sir, I salute you. Thank you. - Posted by: Arla Parker (303 The Pas Squadron RCAC) on: Aug 21, 2012

  • Uncle Gordon was a great man. He didn't have to accept me as family, but always did! He always asked lots of questions and gave great advice. I'm going to miss him and the talks/visits we used to have. - Posted by: Rick Turner (Step Nephew) on: Aug 16, 2012

  • I have known Gordon since the late 60's. I have many fond memories of Gordon and I will miss him. He loved people and pets. His mischievous smile and twinkle in his eye was always present. Gordon's helping hand was always present in our community. His positive involvement in our community has helped The Pas to be a great place to live and raise your family. For anyone who knew Gordon you know he would tell you not to be sad on his passing but take care of your families, give to the Community and help those less fortunate. We all have another great person to meet again in the here after, we will be greeted by Gordon and Gladys, no doubt with tea and cookies :) - Posted by: Gary Hopper (friend) on: Aug 13, 2012

  • I was in The Pas 303 Squadron Air Cadets under the leadership of Mr. Turner. As an Air Cadet, he had our utmost respect and admiration He was a very diligent leader and did a lot for the Air Cadet movement. A lot of "his" cadets went on to sucessful careers.......some of them military. He was a good guy !! - Posted by: Robert Crawley (acquaintance - Air Cadet 303 Squadron - The Pas) on: Aug 07, 2012

  • When CASARA first started up we travelled to The Pas to meet with Gordon and others to get a Zone started in the area. For many years after that my work took me to The Pas. I would often stop in at Gordon and Gladys' for dinner on the way to the big airport. After they moved we kept in touch by letter at Christmas. Gordon was a character and I always enjoyed the time spent with both Gordon and Gladys. We were grateful for his willingness to take on the role of CASARA Zone Commander. I know he will be missed. - Posted by: Mary Lou Milhausen (CASARA member) on: Aug 05, 2012
