Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRTLE ELIZABETH MAY RIDLEY (nee STACEY) It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother/grandmother on July 20, 2012 at Seven Oaks Hospital at 86 years of age. Born June 8, 1926 in Mowbray, MB. She was predeceased by, her parents Ernest and Bella Stacey, brother Allan and son-in-law Melvin Downey. She is survived by her husband Skip, son Brian (Lois), grandson Cameron, daughter Arlene Downey, granddaughter Megan. Raised in La Riviere and Cypress, MB area, she was very active in skiing, skating, curling, playing cards and her church. She enjoyed attending movies and dances in many of the surrounding towns. She met her future husband Clifford (Skip) in 1945 and they were married in Cypress River in June 1946. Once married they settled in Manitou, MB before moving to Brandon for a period of time until moving to South Junction, MB when dad got a job with Canada Customs. They then transferred to Piney, MB where mom was very active in the community, taught 4H, belonged to the Women's Institute and continued her love of curling, sewing, knitting and crafting. Mom loved her bingo and would have a big smile on her face when telling of her wins. Camping was an annual family event and will always be fondly remembered. Closer to retirement she discovered Hawaii and then it was the new annual Winter holiday which she always looked forward to until failing health prevented them going. Mom worked as a telephone operator before marriage and as a Customs Broker for a few years in Piney. After retirement they moved to Winnipeg where she resided until her death. Thank-you to the Seven Oaks Dialysis staff and Dr. Rigatto for their care and support. A private interment was held July 30, 2012 at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Any donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4, 204-989-0800.
