EDNA RUTH MCCLAIN (Little Mama) November 1, 1935 - August 2, 2012 Suddenly, on Thursday, August 2 , 2012 at the Portage District General Hospital, Edna Ruth McClain (nee Skaftfeld) passed away with her family at her side. Edna was born November 1, 1935 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. She grew up in Westbourne, Manitoba until she married William McClain in 1956. They lived in Madsen, Ontario until 1966, then moved to Atikokan, Ontario until they retired, and moved to Westbourne, Manitoba. Edna enjoyed camping, gardening, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. Edna was predeceased by her husband William F. McClain, her son Geoff W. McClain, her parents Einar and Ruth Skaftfeld, and her son-in-law Peter D. Russell. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Nancy (Everett) Turner, her brother John (Charlotte) Skaftfeld, grandchildren Jennifer (Terry) Eastland, Rebecca (Darren) Perepelkin, James (Andrea) Russell, and Andrew McClain. Great-grandchildren Jordan and Trey Eastland, and Katrina Russell. Several nieces and nephews and their families. Special thanks to the Emergency room staff at the Portage District General Hospital for their compassion and wonderful care. A celebration of Edna Ruth's life will take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Westbourne Longbourne Community Hall at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society.
