Doug Bale, I was so sad to hear of your passing. Although we had not crossed paths in some time I still think about how much fun I had working with you at Seven Oaks Centre. I still laugh when I think back at some of the antics you were a part of along with the other cast of characters at the centre. Beside experiencing your humour as with others it was a pleasure to interact with you on a professional level. You're one of the good ones, rest and be at peace my friend. - Posted by: Jamie Kinaschuk (Friend) on: Aug 29, 2013

I enjoyed riding with Doug on Wednesday evening Winnipeg Cycletouring rides. It was a pleasure talking with him as we rode along. Rest in Peace, Doug - Posted by: Dick Maguire (Friend) on: Aug 19, 2012

I always enjoyed my visits with Doug as he always made me laugh. I loved the twinkle in his eye when he would tell of his most recent prank. Oh how he loved his dog and how he loved spoiling her. My parents were Doug's Godparents. He had a special place in their hearts and in our family. Rest in peace, Doug. I cannot believe that you are gone. Doug and I hung around all our years from grades 1 to 8 before I moved to Winnipeg and then B.C. I remember sleeping in their big old white house on Dorchester Avenue in Selkirk and playing many pranks on his neighbour with Doug. There were many times camping along the Red River, swimming at the park and going to Friday night movies. Doug, Kenny, Larry, Lee and myself had lots of good times together. I had to give my dog Rufus to Doug when I moved and I thank him for that. Rest in Peace Doug. - Posted by: bud sigurdson (childhood friend for 14 years) on: Aug 17, 2012

I worked with Doug for many years at Seven Oaks Centre, and more recently at the Child Protection Branch. Doug almost always had an opinion on just about everything, and he would let you know, even when you hadn't asked. He was the starting goalie for many years on the Seven Oaks Hockey team, and had to endure many, many shots on goal, because playing defensively was not the team's forte. He was a good sport, and loved to have a good laugh. He cared about people, what they were facing in life, and how they were doing in facing those things. He worried about a lot of things, some he would discuss, and some he didn't. I am sad to hear that his life here has ended. Be at rest Doug, and know that you are loved, and will be missed. God Bless you. - Posted by: Duncan Michie (co-worker) on: Aug 16, 2012

I worked with Doug when he was nurse at Seven Oaks Center. I was a support worker with one of the residents there. We formed a friendship that lasted until now. We recently had dinner with friends of Seven Oaks at Doug's suggestion, and were already planning the next date. Shocked to see him go- rest in peace Doug. - Posted by: Tim Marceniuk (Friend) on: Aug 16, 2012

Doug and I started as co-workers over 30 years ago and soon became close friends. Like all friends we had our differences of opinion and we logged hundreds (thousands?) of hours over the years, heatedly hashing and rehashing those opinions in a wide-open, verbal debate (tug-of-war) that lasted until we either had to shut it down and make our way home or call it a day and hang up the phone. I always looked forward to those sessions. I am going to miss them. Sleep peacefully old friend. The world was an interesting place while you were here. - Jim Mullett - Posted by: Jim Mullett (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2012

I was a friend of Doug and his sister Denise. He was a devoted brother to Denise and a great comfort to her children after she passed. He will be sadly missed - Posted by: Patricia Moore (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2012

Doug and I were friends in Psych Nursing, and over the past few years we enjoyed getting together at Benjamin's for pizza and a beer and talk about old times, old friends and our lives in general. I regret not being able to see him recently. I will miss him but will always keep him in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Ashley Martyniw (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2012

Doug and I were co-workers and more so, close friends. I met him when he joined our Branch back in the early 90s. We instantly clicked and began a long friendship with each other. I will truly miss his intellect, wittiness and of course, his “sick” sense of humour. Good-bye my friend. I will see you again when it’s my time. - Posted by: Julie Edwards (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2012

Doug and I have been good friends for over 30 years. We graduated from Nursing School together and in our younger years enjoyed tennis, crosscountry skiing, and conversation together. We spent much time together in our youth and more recently we met monthly for lunch. Doug was a good friend to me and I will miss him very much. - Posted by: Dale (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2012
