Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • A truly classy lady has passed from us. She had such elegance and poise and yet such warmth and how she loved to laugh. My parents, Steve and Mary Kushnir ran the Montreal Fur Company on Selkirk Ave across the street from the Original Fashion Shop so I grew up with Pam in that little world that is gone now. Mrs. Kaprowy had a gift for welcoming people into her home and making them feel appreciated. Her warmth and generosity will be missed. How lucky she was to live long enough to see her grandchildren grow up and then great-grandchildren come. • I will always remember when my best friend Lisa's grandma (Mrs. Kaprowy) owned the Original Fashion Shop on Selkirk Ave. Lisa and I used to go there and her grandma would let us go down in the basement and go through all the "extras" from the store, such as clothing, mannequins, wigs, etc. It was like a dream for us young girls to have so many "dress up" options! Lisa's grandma knew this was exciting for us and that's the reason every time we went there she'd let us go downstairs and play. Mrs. Kaprowy was a very special, sweet lady and you could tell she thought the world of her grandchildren. - Posted by: Jennifer Waluk (Longtime friend) on: Aug 22, 2012

  • Women like Mrs. Kaprowy are to be remembered as pioneer business women in our province. Now I am a senior citizen but I remember the Original Fashion Shop well. Both my mother and my mother-in-law were patrons. I too shopped there along with my daughter when she was in need of formal attire and accessories for her high school grad. It was always a fashion forward place where one went to view the newest in fashions and the Kaprowy family were friends to all. I am glad to know that Mrs. Kaprowy had a long and varied life. She knew both her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, so she was truly Blessed. May she rest eternally in peace with our Lord. My sincerest condolences to Pam and her family - at a time when words seem inadequate I know that you will comfort one another by recognizing that you all are a part of a remarkable lady's legacy.
