Olive was born on March 7, 1929, in Narol, Manitoba, where she lived until graduating from Donald School. She then moved to Winnipeg and completed her Diploma from Success Business College. On September 22, 1951 she married her life-long love Stephen Nebozenko. They were married for 29 years before Steve's passing in 1980. During her career Olive worked at Blue Cross, the Federal Government Social Services, and Great-West Life, where she retired in 1990. She was devoted to her faith and an active member of Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church. This May, she was recognized as a dedicated 50 year member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. Olive treasured time with her family, and leaves to mourn her daughters Barbara (Derek) Longfield and Tannis (Chuck) Haarsma, her grandchildren Michael (Angela) Longfield, Erin (Zach) Bass, Stephen (Julie) Longfield, Carly and Matthew Haarsma, and her great-granddaughters Elliana Olive Bass and Adelaide Eileen Longfield. She also leaves her sister Stella (Nick) Jaman and niece Nicolette Jaman, brother Norm (Marge) Chernie and nieces Susan (Alex) Kelly and Patti Chernie (Mark Thibault), nephew Jeff Chernie, their families, and many relatives and close friends. Olive was predeceased by her beloved husband Steve, her parents William and Ksenia Chrynowski, parents-in-law Michael and Mary Nebozenko, and sister-in-law Irene Fliss and her husband Russell. Prayers will be sung on Thursday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, at 10:00 a.m.. Both services will take place at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church (505 Watt St. at Munroe Ave.). Interment will be held Saturday, August 25 at 11:00 am., at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main Street. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on 5E and MICU at St. Boniface Hospital. In Olive's memory, contributions can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Manitoba Lung Association, should friends so desire. To a very special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and auntie who was, above all, unselfish in her devotion to her family, you will always be loved and forever remembered.
