Date of Passing: Aug 17, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELGIN REA FETTERLY Elgin Rea Fetterly passed away peacefully on August 17, 2012 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. He will be sadly missed by his family: sons Ross (Sherry) and Neale (Cheryl), daughter Lynne (Derick), and grandchildren Ryan, Sarah, Briana (Chris), Michaela, Lindsey, Allison and Brigid. Following the sudden passing of his wife Margaret in April 2011, Elgin moved to Winnipeg to be close to his daughter Lynne and four of his grandchildren. During these last 16 months while Dad was living in Winnipeg his love of his life and friends in Montreal, whom he missed dearly was evident. Winnipeg then became the central point for many family gatherings. Elgin was a graduate of McGill University, where he received his chemical engineering degree. Elgin was always very involved in his church community, as well as charitable activities. He worked for Alcan in Arvida, Kitimat and Montreal over a period of 42 years. Following retirement he and Margaret enjoyed tennis and extensive travel. His children remember their Dad as someone who enjoyed participating and supporting them in their life endeavours. Elgin was always very interested in the lives and the activities of his seven grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them grow and develop into wonderful mature and caring individuals. Elgin's favourite times were spent among family and good friends. He particularly enjoyed eating his wife's apple and blueberry pies with ice cream. He will also be remembered for his dry sense of humour and his baby blue eyes. Visitation will be at the St. John's United Church in Pointe Claire on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the service at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception. Thank you to the staff of Rosewood- Fernwood House, Riverview AB 2 and Comforts of care for all their support and care. A special thank you to our very special friend Howard. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

I had the pleasure of knowing Elgin for a few months. I have good memories especially of our last visit to St. Vital Park to feed the geese and then having ice cream. Good bye Elgin I know you are in a better place....Terry - Posted by: Terry Kent (companion Comforts of Home Care) on: Aug 24, 2012
