Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) DAVID BLACHER 1943 - 2012 Peacefully at home on August 23, 2012 Jack passed away in his favourite chair with his loving wife Carol beside him. While we will miss him deeply, he is now free from his suffering. Jack was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife Carol; his children, Allison and Kieran Hunter, Lesley and Cory Lesiuk, John and Rhiannon Blacher; his precious grandchildren, Kristjan (Alice) and Ian Hunter, McKenna, Quinn and Graysen Lesiuk, and Jackson and Sadie Blacher. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Eugene Gloss, in-laws, Ivy and Jerry Doll, Diane and Desmond Donohoe, Audrey and Herb Streich, Bill and Shirley Jefferson, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and friends. Jack was born on July 7, 1943 in Selkirk and was raised in Lockport and Selkirk. He worked for Manitoba Hydro for many years, retiring in 1998. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years fishing, travelling, building homes in Mexico, his involvement with the Lions Club and volunteering. There wasn't a cause to which he wouldn't gladly give his time. He was happiest doing things for others. His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Church, 6088 Hwy. 9A (just south of Rolling Mill). In lieu of flowers, Jack asked for donations to be made to Variety Children's Heart Centre (685 William Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0Z2) or Canuck Place Children's Hospice (1690 Matthews Ave., Vancouver, BC V6J 2T2). Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Our condolences to all the family. Our remembrances will be of Jack in all the Hecla Parades and being such a good sport in spite of some of Shirley's crazy and wonderful ideas! Then his passion for the impoverished in Mexico and because of Jack & Carol's love and compassion, there is a Hecla House in Maxico today. - Posted by: John & Maxine Ingalls (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2012
