Om Shanti, I met Sumitaben for the first time in Winnipeg in 1991, I did not know she was related to me. I was visiting the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University in Winnipeg, with Sister Jayanti, from the UK, on a Canadian tour. Sumitraben comes up to me and asks me are you Gujarati, Patel, where are you from in India, then she says I know your Dad, Mum and the family. Then she introduced Naginbhai, Bharat and Ashok with alot of enthusiam, that I was Ishwarbhai's daughter following the same meditation path that they were practising. Sumitraben would always call my dad with her loving voice, would say "Om Shanti", a greeting of the Brahma Kumaris, to remind ourselves that "our innate nature is of peace". Sumitraben whoever she met would talk about the Brahma Kumaris and gave lots of courses to many people. She loved to serve humanity. One of the persons she gave the knowledge to was Dr. Ashok Patel, doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Sumitraben put me into his connection and I went to visit the Doctor at Mayo and stayed by her. Sumitraben would always call me to see how I was doing every so often. I am glad I was able to speak to her several times in her last few months. Sumitraben was always in great spirits wouldn't have known she was ill, always inspiring as usual. In the last month have been reflecting on the wonderful memories. I loved her quality of expressing honestly her thoughts. I will miss her very much. - Posted by: BK Sheila (niece) on: Sep 29, 2012
