ALFRED DAVID POMMER On Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Selkirk General Hospital, Alfred Pommer, aged 79 years passed away amidst friends and relatives after a lengthy fight with cancer. Alfred was born on April 15, 1933, in Seven Sisters Falls, MB, to Dave and Violet Pommer. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 35 years, JoAnn and brothers Vern, Jerry and Bill. He is survived by his brother Lawrence; sisters, Carol Zahariuk and Vivian Anderson as well as many nieces and nephews. Alf spent his first 11 years at Seven Sisters Falls, then the next 17 years in the Winnipeg area, then moving to Regina with the Steel Industry. He then moved back to Manitoba working at the Rolling Mill in Selkirk. Alf semi-retired form the mill, running his own septic field and well business. His last 11 years was spent in the Gimli area with his second wife Debbie and then his very good companion Ethel, who was by his side until the end. Along the way Alfred was very fortunate to have many friends who will miss him. He has gone to join his dad and three brothers at fishing. A Masonic Service will be held on Thursday, August 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alf's memory to CancerCare MB. I am so sorry to hear of Al's passing. He was such a good friend to Herb and I, and especially a great friend to me after Herb passed.
