Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • About 5 summers ago, Arthur and Lydia, 3 of their 4 children and their children spent time at our cabin. Early in the week during one evening after dinner, Lydia disappeared into her and Arthur's bedroom, returned and quietly opened a tupperware box of homemade oreo cookies. I snafooed two and raved about them. Just as quietly later in the evening, Lydia came up to me and said, "I have lots more where those cookies came from." as she nodded toward her bedroom. We both giggled. She had squirrelled away her wonderful baked goods and every day she would bring out from her bedroom another batch of amazing sweets. What amazed me about Lydia and Arthur was their obvious love of each other. They held hands or had their arm around one or the other. Arthur referred to Lydia as his "beautiful bride" which always choked me up. Lydia was a lovely, caring individual, sweet, kind and generous. Whenever we spoke she would say to me that we, meaning she and me, have beautiful grandchildren meaning my two and her twenty odd. I've lost count. I will miss you Lydia. Have a great trip and best wishes in your new home. - Posted by: Pat Bruch (Friend and kinda a relative.) on: Aug 29, 2012
