VALERIE RUTH DESROCHER It is with great sadness our family announces the unexpected passing of Valerie Ruth Desrocher on August 31, 2012 at the age of 52 years. Valerie leaves to mourn her beloved Mother, Ruth Desrocher, Brother Van and his wife Cathy of Terre Haute, Indiana and their children Lindsay, Ben and Carly. She also leaves to mourn many cousins, especially Kathie McGann of Calgary. Valerie was predeceased by her Father, Ben Roland Desrocher on September 27, 1986. Valerie was born on April 18, 1960 in Winnipeg, and attended Pembina Crest, General Byng and Vincent Massey Collegiate. Valerie will be remembered as a warm and loving Daughter, Sister and Aunt. Although her life was filled with numerous medical challenges, Valerie strived to remain independent and active. She was always willing and eager to take that bus ride to visit Mom so she could help out anyway she could and then beat her at card.... just not always! Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of the Emergency and ICU at the St. Boniface Hospital. A Memorial Reception for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I haven't seen Val since high school, but I sure do remember her. She had a ready smile and good sense of humour. She was kind to everyone and I am very sad to hear of her passing. My condolences to family and friends. - Posted by: Karen Torgerson (high school friend) on: Sep 07, 2012

  • I am so sorry to hear of Val's passing. In my mind she will always be the funny, spunky girl I knew in High School. She was always very independent as I recall, and I thought she was someone you could count on when you needed a friend. - Posted by: Kelly Torgerson (High School friend) on: Sep 07, 2012

  • I am truly shocked and bereft to learn of Valerie's passing. I have many fond memories of Valerie. Valerie was a tomboy. She was always the cowboy, the robber, or the father when playing house. She had the best collection of toy guns on the street! Growing up across the street from Val, I knew her as a kind, considerate friend. Val was always the peace keeper in our neighbourhood. She was the one to come to the defence of anyone she thought was being unjustly picked upon. She will be missed. - Posted by: Brenda Poersch (Neighbour and childhood friend) on: Sep 04, 2012

  • Ruth, Van and Cathy and family....you are in my thoughts and prayers. Always in her family's hearts, she will be missed. -Brenda - Posted by: Brenda McBain (family friend) on: Sep 04, 2012
