He worked as a farmer, blaster in gold mines, shipper at Swifts in Winnipeg, a butcher in Fisher Branch and Hodgson, pulp cutter, jail house guard, trapper, and a Seneca root digger. Nick enjoyed listening to and playing music. He played guitar and sang in a band and would sometimes play the mouth organ. The group he was with would play at weddings. He would sing at church and while at work in his five acre strawberry patch. He asked Jesus into his heart in 1970. He took part in believer's baptisms at the Maidstone Christian Fellowship Church in 1972. While attending Maidstone, he was a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, board member and Sunday school superintendent. Nick enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed it so much, that he and some friends moved an old log cabin to Birch Lake. He would fish, hunt and even trap there, sometimes for more than a week at a time. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Nick was a good friend and neighbor. We met in 1974 when I first moved to Fisherton from Winnipeg.I helped him once in a while on his farm and learned quite a bit from him. We enjoyed hunting in the Birch Lake area before the fires changed the scenery in the area. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace old friend. - Posted by: John Sherman (Friend and Neighbor at Fisherton) on: Sep 06, 2012
