MARTHA BOONE (nee GILLIS) Peacefully, on Monday, September 3, 2012, Martha passed away at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home at the age of 100 years old. Martha leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Doreen (Lionel) Rivard, Linda (Alf Ramsay) Boone, her daughter-in-law Simone Boone, her grandchildren Rickey, Brenda-Lee, Sherri-Lynn, Danny, Donna, Kristin and Amber, 11 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Martha was predeceased by her husband Charles and her son Charles, Jr. Mom was born in Belgium and came to Canada at an early age. She married Charles in 1936 and owned a grocery store in St. Boniface at the corner of Des Meurons Street and Hamel Street. In 1948, they moved to Elie and owned the Elie Hotel. Martha will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street. A private family interment will be held at a later time in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
