Gil was my mechanic for about ten years..he was always very fair, and honest with me. I also played hockey with him. He came to my house about 1.5 weeks before he died. He repaired my car, (in the rain), and then charged me very little for all of that work. I invited him in for a couple of drinks..told him I considered him to be a good friend, and that I would like to visit him some time in St. Malo..he said that I was always welcome..I gave him one of my most treasured sport memorophillias...a Teemu Selanne clock...never met you Louise, but often looked at your photo on the muddy 4 wheeler..hope things get better for you really soon..regards..Denis Letain. - Posted by: Denis Letain (customer/friend) on: Oct 16, 2012

So sorry to hear and read of your loss. My heartfelt condolences to the Ouimet family. Gil came to my rescue many times and always went out of his way to do the extra on my poor old cars. He set the bar for honesty and integrity and Gil was always my family's first choice go to guy. I rode past Gil's place a little more than a week ago and saw him in the driveway and we talked for a while. Sad news indeed. - Posted by: John Venesia () on: Sep 09, 2012

- Posted by: Suzanne Nolette (Friend) on: Sep 07, 2012

Very sorry for your loss. Gil was a great, kind man who never hesitated to help you. Not only was he my trusted mechanic, he became a friend over the years and our mutual love of the Habs bonded that friendship. And he came to my rescue on more than one occasion with my car. And where else can you go get your car serviced and have a beer while you wait! You were one of a kind Gil! Going to miss you my friend. - Posted by: Kim Clairmont (friend) on: Sep 07, 2012

Dearest Louise, for all of us who watched in high school your love blossom with Gilbert - a love that granted you so many years together, a loving family and loyal customers (of which I was one when I had one of those cars!) we send you our love at this time in your life. He made us laugh and believed us when we told him there was something wrong with the car! He fixed them beautifully and left us all with his indellible mark. I am sure he is meeting up with some beloved Montreal Canadians in heaven. - Posted by: Mona-Lynne (High School Friend) on: Sep 06, 2012

We are still in shock at the news... we will miss you, Tex... One of my favorite memories is of you coming to our rescue. My aunt was dying in the Misericordia Hospital, and our car wouldn't start. You rushed over to my Mom's, and you were lying on your back, on Queenston St. to fix our car. We were able to get my Mom to the hospital because of you. RIP Gil. Marni & Marcel Chartier a.k.a.
