Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET (WALENTINA) STRAZEWSKI July 17, 1926 - September 5, 2012 Our beautiful, beloved Mama, Violet Strazewski, passed away with grace and dignity at the age of 86, with her family and friends by her side at Seven Oaks Hospital. Violet was born in Perwomsyk, Ukraine. When she was a very small child her mother succumbed to the Holodomor famine. As a young teenager she was sent to labour camps in Germany where she met and married, Jon Strazewski. They immigrated to Canada in 1949, and settled in Winnipeg to raise their family. Violet worked at Globe Battery then started in the catering business. For many years she was Catering Supervisor at Rosh Pina Synagogue where she remained until retirement. Violet lived passionately for her children, her church, her friendships, cooking, and travelling. She loved the beauty of nature from her garden to animals and birds. Her independence, sense of humour, her wit, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her. Violet was predeceased by her eldest son Antony, her husband Jon, her parents and siblings in the Ukraine. She is survived by her son, Bogdan and daughter, Danuta (Joseph Strebly). Special thank yous to all the people who travelled with Violet throughout her life's journey. We would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit nurses, in particular, Jennifer, for their compassionate care. Thank you Father Alexander and Father Gene for your prayers and comfort.
