JOHN (JACK) ERNEST MCQUADE September 1, 1939 - September 6, 2012 Peacefully on September 6, 2012, Jack passed away at the Gimli Community Health Centre. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carol (McDonald) daughter Melanie (Brent), son Mark, two precious grandchildren Keara and David, sister Connie (Rick) and numerous extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Ernest, mother Velva and sister Betty (2012). Jack was born and raised in Plaster Rock, NB. In April of 1958, he took the train to Depot Division in Regina, SK, and joined the RCMP. After he finished training, he was transferred to Ottawa, Winnipeg and Killarney. It was in Killarney that he met his future wife, Carol. They were married on June 8, 1963. Together they moved to Treherne and then Brandon. While they were stationed in Brandon they had their two children, Melanie and Mark. After nine years in Brandon, Jack and family were transferred to Norway House in 1976, and three years later, Jack was transferred to Winnipeg where he finished his career in charge of the RCMP detachment at the Winnipeg International Airport. He retired on April 16, 1993, after 35 years of service and moved to Sandy Hook, MB, with his wife Carol and son Mark. After retirement Jack joined RT Martell and Associates and worked as a Private Investigator for many years. He also worked tirelessly in the Community. He was a dedicated member of The Winnipeg Beach United Church as well as the Kiwanis Club of Gimli. He served on the boards of the Gimli Senior Resource Council, Evergreen Basic Needs and Winnipeg Beach United Church and took his turn as President of Kiwanis for a two year term. An affiliate of the Kiwanis, the Aktion Club was one of his favorite projects. He also managed Meals on Wheels as well as delivering them and helped pack and deliver Christmas Hampers. While volunteering his time for all of these services, he managed to find time to golf, curl, play cards and do security checks for the snowbirds area residents. Even though his time was limited, he still managed to spend quality time with his grandchildren. Jack could be seen almost everyday driving his truck around the community spending time visiting with neighbors and friends while doing his volunteer work. He was known for his dry humour and quick wit. He will be greatly missed. We wish to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the Gimli Community Health Centre. A United Church funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at the Gimli Lutheran Church with Beth Mclean officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare MB, or N.E. Palliative Care in Gimli would be appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing, much too soon......as another colleague who worked with Jack at WIA said, he truly was one of those people who made a difference. He was fair and kind, and a great influence on all of us. We learned a lot from him about respect and teamwork. He was, "A great man." RIP friend. - Posted by: ML Moran (Worked at WIA) on: Sep 11, 2012

Although I never had the good fortune to work with Jack, he was known for his dedication and mentor to many in the Force. I knew him through his selfless volunteer work and was an inspiration in our community. And I will miss Jack on Sundays where he leaves a very empty place in our church family. There is definately a place in heaven for you Jack. - Posted by: Barbara Holmstrom (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2012
