FRANCES VICTORIA MAY RIVERS (nee VANDALE) June 30, 1938 - September 4, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend, Vicky Rivers. Vicky was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, and excelled in the hospitality industry, working at such Winnipeg institutions as The Golden Gate Restaurant, The Elks Club, The Swinging Gate Restaurant, The Paddle Wheel Queen and Princess and the Constellation Room. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Wilfred and Elsie Vandale and her brother Freddie Vandale. Vicky was the devoted matriarch of her family and will be dearly missed by her children; Lynn Yestrau and Roger (Heather) Smith, as well as her five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many more family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Special thanks to the staff at Grace General Hospital for their care while Vicky was fighting her courageous battle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association. You were tired, I saw it in your face. The end was coming at a fast pace. But, how I wanted you to stay... In time I came to understand, your will was not my command. Life just became too hard for you. I didn't want to see - but I knew... You had to be where you could fly. Mom, It's so hard to say good-bye. You were mine for all those years, I'll miss you and cry my tears. But I also know, that's ok... for we'll be together again someday.
