ELWOOD GOODMAN It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and afi, Elwood Goodman on Thursday, September 6, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elwood is survived by his loving wife Sharon; two sons Reid (Tori) and James (Katelynn); two grandchildren Mikayla and Mark; brother Alan (Kathy); his nieces and nephew Kristina (Mark), Angela (Wade) and Ryan (Jen); father-in-law Allen; mother-in-law Ivy; sisters and brothers-in-law as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elwood is predeceased by his father Fjolnir in 1982 and mother Kristin in 1998. Elwood met Sharon Backman in 1975 and were later married in 1978. He was very proud of his boys and his grandchildren were the love of his life. Elwood enjoyed sitting outside alongside Sharon with his cup of coffee. He felt it was important for him to always provide a little advice to his boys. For a few years, he spent time on the winter roads with his son Reid. Elwood always had a keen interest where Reid was in his travels, and where James was and the type of equipment he was operating. Elwood was born on May 21, 1947 living his entire life in Lundar. He attended Lundar Collegiate. He worked construction, and started his life working away from home at an early age. He drove truck for Foster Trucking and later moved on to power lines in Manitoba and Alberta for Ace and McGregor Construction. He also operated crane for BACM at Seven Sisters Hydro Dam. Elwood then drove truck and also operated a loader for Munro Construction and then for Sigfusson Northern over a period of 25 years. Trucking was something he really enjoyed, spending many weeks of the year on winter roads in Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario. Elwood made many good friends as his travels took him around the country. In honour of Elwood's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the Lundar Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 216, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Burnet, nurses and staff for the wonderful care Elwood received during his stay at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital.
