Date of Passing: Sep 17, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE BARRIE STEWART With sadness, the family announces the unexpected passing of Wayne Barrie Stewart of Lockport, MB on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the age of 68. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Carole, children Deborah (Joseph), Marshall (Christina), Tawnia and Tamara (Jason), sister Sandy (Syd) and eight beautiful grandchildren. Wayne was born in Little Hampton, England, moving to Toronto, ON as an infant. Raised there, he met his wife of 45 years. It was due to his hard work and love of the transportation industry while working at Imperial Roadways that led his family to Lockport, MB. While Wayne believed in working hard, he also liked to play hard. Golfing, fishing and catching a football game on the TV were some of his favourite past times. His most cherished moments were the times he spent with his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 in the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masons. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Wayne truly loved life. He enjoyed his weekends at his trailer at Tall Timber, and golfed as much as he could with his many friends. He made friends easily, and had a smile for everyone. He was a very generous community citizen, being the first to buy tickets, or whatever products were being sold, to support, his Masonic lodge, or the local community. He was especially proud of his large family displaying their pictures proudly. He touched a lot of lives and will be sorely missed by many, and by this close friend especially. Carole and family, we are saddened to hear of Wayne's passing. I had the pleasure of golfing with him every Wednesday night and now we have lost our buddy. Just last week he was telling me all about his trip to Scotland and how he could now check it off his bucket list. We laughed not knowing how true this statement would be only a few days later. He enjoyed visiting his birth place and meeting people along the way. His only regret was not being able to share it with you. They say golf is a gentleman's game. I know this must be true as Wayne truly was a gentleman. He will be missed. - Posted by: Hank & Susan Sprong (friend) on: Sep 19, 2012
