Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH MYRTLE HNYLYCIA (nee STOROCHUK) Peacefully on Wednesday September 26, 2012 at Golden Links Lodge, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Ruth Hnylycia passed away at the age of 78. Ruth is survived by her husband of 45 years, Walter; daughter Sheryl and son-in-law Dale McMullen; son Daryl and daughter-in-law Dorothy; daughter Colleen and her boyfriend Jay Pylypuik; grandchildren Owen, Danny, Sara, and Megan; sister Gwen and brother-in-law David Smriga; nephew Matthew Smriga and his girlfriend Sarah Gebeke; Auntie Mary Wishnicki; Auntie Hazel Hoplock; Uncle Sam and Aunt Margaret Storochuk; and numerous cousins. Ruth was predeceased by her parents William and Anne Storochuk, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ruth was born in Middlebro, Manitoba on October 5, 1933 and lived in Carrick, Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg with her parents in 1947. After graduating from Tec Voc High School in 1951, Ruth began her career in the telegraphs department at CN Telecommunications. Ruth married Wally on September 16, 1967 and became a homemaker in 1969 when they started their family. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and family member that always had a song in her heart and a story to share. Ruth's loving, caring and compassionate nature has shaped her family and inspired them to be considerate of others and help those in need. Ruth also had a sense of adventure that took her on many vacations abroad while she worked at CN plus annual family vacations that included camping at Grand Beach and Blue Lake, Ontario. Ruth had a strong belief in God and would always say a prayer for family members or friends in need. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church for many years. Ruth's family would like to thank the nurses, health care aides and support staff in the Special Needs Unit at the Golden Links Lodge. Your care and compassion for Ruth during this difficult time has been a blessing to our family. Thank you also to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital that took care of Ruth during her recent stays. Funeral Parastas service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with interment service to follow. In lieu of flowers, if family or friends desire, a donation in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
