JOHN KIZLYK Peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Selkirk General Hospital, John passed into the arms of the Lord at the age of 92. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Robert (Pauline), John (Donna), Barbara, and Tim; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (Peters), his parents, James and Sophie Kizlyk, sister Eva (Eramchuk) and great-granddaughter Abigail (Kosa). Everyone who met Dad immediately had a connection with his gentle and warm nature, his generosity and quick smile. He will also be fondly remembered by Helen. Dad was born on July 6, 1920 in Rossdale, Manitoba where he resided most of his life. He married Jean Peters in 1952 in Winnipeg. With Jean's untimely passing John returned to Rossdale where he raised his children on the family farm. Dad also worked at CN until his retirement at age 61. Dad was a life-long member of Blessed Virgin Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossdale and for many years served the Lord and the community through his work at the parish on the parish council and serving the priest during Sunday mass. Dad's greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family and having friends visit and reminisce. During his retirement he travelled on numerous occasions throughout the U.S. and Canada. We would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital who cared for Dad over the last six months, especially his angels who gave him that special care we so appreciated. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dad's memory to Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Rossdale. Prayers will be said on Thursday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blessed Virgin Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossdale. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. also in the Church. Interment will take place at the Holy Family Cemetery. His grandchildren will serve as his pallbearers.
