Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRIEDA BILINSKI (nee SCHIMUNEK) August 13, 1925 - September 27, 2012 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Frieda Bilinski on September 27, 2012 at the Selkirk District General Hospital, at the age of 87 years. Frieda will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her beloved husband, Stanley; her children, Lorraine (Fred), Al (Carol); grandchildren Karyn, Karla, Chris and Jaime; great-granddaughter Natalie; sisters Lillian (Fred), Florence (Wayne) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Frieda was predeceased by her parents, John and Lydia Schimunek. Her passing leaves an enormous gap in the lives of her family. Frieda was born on August 13, 1925, the oldest of three daughters. She grew up and went to school in the Morris area. It was during a visit by a travelling harvesting crew that Frieda met the love of her life, Stan. They dated and were married on July 15, 1950 and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Their love and devotion to each other was like no other. They made a home and raised their family in Cloverdale and farmed for many years, eventually moving into Selkirk in retirement. They shared many adventures together- a trip to Hawaii, camping in Thief River Falls, and spending many winter months in Arizona. Frieda was a very dedicated, kind, loving and generous person to all who knew her. She was a 4-H leader for many years, and loved to stay active whether it was quilting, sewing, crocheting or knitting. She had a particular love for her garden, canning fresh vegetables every fall. Her home was always filled with many beautiful plants and flowers. Frieda was a wonderful cook and there was always something cooking in her kitchen, whether it was fresh home baked bread and buns, perogies for dinner, or a cake for dessert. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lindenschmidt, and all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Selkirk District General Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion given to Frieda and her family. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, PTH 9A in Selkirk, Manitoba. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service and interment. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
