JOHN (JACK) MEIKLEJOHN On Thursday, September 27, 2012, surrounded by the love of his four children, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jack Meiklejohn at the age of 84 at Golden Links Care Home. Jack is survived by son John and his children Brooklyn and Breanne, and their mother Kim; son Ranny; daughter Elizabeth (Bert) and their children Madison and Megan; son Peter (Mary) and their children Aaron, Nick and Rachel; as well as his brother Ken (Isabel) and his sister Ishbel. Predeceased by his wife Mary of 51 years, his parents Mina and Sinclair, his brother George, and his sister Jean (Tom). Jack worked for the Winnipeg School Division as a caretaker and retired in 1990 with 18 years of service. Grandpa was so proud of all his kids and grandkids. Anyone who crossed paths with Jack would fall in love with him. He was so gentle, funny, and truly cared about everyone. He never complained about anything. He was always taking care of everyone but himself. He never had the letter I in his vocabulary, only the letter U . Jack enjoyed having his kids and grandkids at Winnipeg Beach. His favourite pass time was spent with his family and friends playing cards (Poker and/or crib). Jack and Mary with the kids would enjoy trips to Fargo and Grand Forks. They enjoyed getting back to the Motel for a shot of Crown Royal. Jack never met a person he couldn't make laugh. He touched the lives of all who knew him. His family was his greatest pride. Jack's kids, grandkids, family and friends were truly blessed to have such a wonderful person in their life. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. If the world had more people like our Dad, what a beautiful place it would be. He will live in our hearts forever. A huge Thank You to all the staff at Golden Links Care home for their wonderful care and support for the past six years. All of the staff made us feel like we were family and it is greatly appreciated. Thank You, God, for the time you gave us with our Dad and for taking him home with such gentle comfort. Funeral mass will take place at Holy Rosary, 510 River Ave, on Friday, October 5 with viewing at 1:00 p.m. followed by mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Reception will take place at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca
