George was predeceased by his parents Gustov and Paulina Light; siblings Robert Light, Erma Jonasson, Erna Wenzel, Elizabeth Finzel, and Henry Light. George was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on July 5, 1930, and moved to East Selkirk in 1935 where he and his family had a farm. George was a very hard worker starting very young to help on the farm. This is where he met the love of his life Pearl Elizabeth Stafford. George was a dedicated employee there until his retirement in 1992. Pearl and George married on October 24, 1953. Their first child, Deborah Gail was born on June 30, 1954. Their son Donald was born on June 24, 1957. In his spare time George loved to fix things and you could often find him in his garage working on the latest lawnmower that he got from a garage sale or rebuilding something that someone threw away. George was a very proud man who loved his family unconditionally and will be forever missed and loved. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, the United Church or a charity of choice.
