DALE BRADLEY REMPEL On Friday, October 5, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at home, Dale left this world and received his healing in heaven after a courageous battle with brain cancer, at the age of 49 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Lynn, of 25 years, and his children, Brent and wife Rebecca, and daughter Leanne. He will also be missed by his loving mother Edna, and brothers Dennis (Pat), Rick (Shirley), Terry (Lori), and sister Arlene (Robert Hamblin). Also his mother in-law Bernice Anderson, brothers-in-law Joe (Pat), Gord (Claire), Andy (Karen), and Wesley (Julie). His many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews will miss him immensely and they were very special to him. He also leaves to mourn many, many friends that will miss him greatly. Dale was born in Morris on April 17, 1963. He graduated from Morris High School in 1981 and attended the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Manitoba, obtaining his Professional Agrologist designation. He put himself through high school with various jobs; concrete and then grain bin construction, as a Farm hand, and then started selling crop Hail Insurance in his first year of University, which is when Dale's Hail Ltd. began. All the while he played competitive hockey in Morris, Steinbach, Morden, and Carman, with Lynn and family following all around the province to watch him play the game he loved. Upon graduation he worked with Hoechst Canada while living in Morden. He married his one and only sweetheart Lynn Anderson, on November 1, 1986. They lived in Morden, she teaching, and he eventually beginning his General Insurance career in Winkler. They moved back to their hometown of Morris in 1990 and began their journey with Rempel Insurance Brokers Ltd. Dale became involved in community through sports and volunteer organizations. Dale was always proud to promote his hometown Morris. He was past president of the Morris Community Development Corporation, and spent many hours coaching minor hockey and baseball. His involvement as a director of the Valley Ag Society and Manitoba Stampede continues to benefit both organizations. Dale was instrumental in bringing the Pembina Valley Twisters Junior Hockey Club to Morris and continued to serve as President. He had such a passion for Morris and thought anything was possible for his home town. He achieved a dream of building a new office in 2010, so that his customers could continue to be served in Southern Manitoba by Rempel Insurance Brokers Ltd. Dale is a Past President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba (IBAM) and recently completed the 2011-2012 term as President of Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC). Over the years Dale has also contributed both time and/or financial support to the Morris Chamber of Commerce, Ag Expo Committee, Morris Wellness Centre, Southern Manitoba Convention Centre, Morris Riverview Golf Country Club, Cafe 75, Children's Wish Foundation, CNIBC, and CancerCare Manitoba. A man of incredible vision, strength and energy, Dale's dedication to professional and community volunteerism encourages others to follow his lead. Those closest to Dale remember him for his smile, for his childlike personality that exuded energy, spontaneity, and love of life. He was everybody's Uncle Dale as he loved everyone he met and had the ability to get people to enjoy everything he got them involved in, whether it was a committee meeting, or a work project. He loved children and youth so much. He loved nothing more than taking people for rides in his car or airplane and travelling with them. Nothing was a challenge for him; it was an opportunity to make a new friend. He joked through his cancer walk that he was going to celebrate every day like his birthday and he did. Dale was an amazing husband to his wife Lynn. The two started dating in high school and never looked back. Dale and Lynn were best friends, travel buddies, and each other's number one supporter for 35 years. They lived life together, worked together and played together. He was crazy about her. They were blessed with their son Brent in 1990 and later Leanne in 1992. He loved his children so much, was so proud of them and all they did. Their friends became his friends. He was so excited to have Rebecca become part of his family and was so thrilled to know that he would have a grand baby soon. We will treasure the way Dale showed love. For us, it was his hugs and I Love You's and to others he showed his love by giving. He gave his time, money, and resources and often surprised people with his generosity, even complete strangers. He had so much living yet to do ---he'd surely want us to do it in his name. To honour Dale's life we invite you to join with us at the Southern Manitoba Convention Centre in Morris. There will be a Tribute Evening/Viewing on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life (Funeral Service) will be held on Friday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at the Morris Cemetery. Immediately following the service, there will be a lunch and time for you to visit with family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare MB Foundation to support programs and research into Brain Cancer in Dale's memory; Room 1160, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E0V9. Arrangements are also being made to set up a Dale Rempel Memorial Scholarship Fund which donations will go in Dale's memory. What Cancer Cannot Do- Cancer is so limited... It cannot cripple love It cannot shatter hope It cannot corrode faith It cannot destroy peace It cannot kill friendship It cannot shut out memories It cannot silence courage It cannot invade the soul It cannot steal eternal life It cannot conquer the spirit. • Lynn, Irene and I were saddened by the news. Please accept our belated condolences. Having worked with Dale at Hoechst Canada on neighboring territories I had the chance to see Dale in action during product performance inquiries. Dale always worked for the farmer. His short life with us has not been for nought as his tremendous accomplishments and indeed his legacy are an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace dear colleague. - Posted by: François Catellier (Acquaintance) on: Oct 18, 2012

Very saddened to hear of Dale's passing....and pray God's arms around you and yours, as you walk this valley. - Posted by: Dianne & Brian Dueck (acquaintance) on: Oct 18, 2012

  • Lynn, Dale was a true hero the last 4 years. Give thanks this weekend for his life, as will I. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and family. I want to relate a few stories very meaningful and memorable to me, about Dale. The first was when I as about 13 years old. I was not a top hockey player on local teams and did not feel in the 'in' crowd, especially in the years when I was mixed in with older kids. We were being billeted in pairs at a tournament, as was common practice in those days, and I seemed to be the odd man out. Dale, the best player on the team and a very popular guy, saw my nervousness and stepped up to pair with me without hesitation - and did it in a way that made it seem like it was no big deal. It was a big deal; I will never forget it. The second story was about a ball hockey tournament in Altona, held off-season on the concrete of their rink without the ice - we were about 18. Tables were flipped on their sides at the blue lines to make 2 ‘rinks’, with full-sized nets at on the sideboards for 4-on-4. It was for fun, but there were definitely strong rivalries and a little rough play given the history of ‘old-time’ hockey between neighbouring towns. Obviously Dale was a target! I think Brian Lemay organized the team but it was difficult to get enough players because it was summer. The first day we did alright, we had one spare and won 2 games. But the second day not enough guys showed up! Brian (‘Frenchie’) was playing really hot in goal, and Rob Braun and I alternated between wing and D, and the 4th player was of course… Dale. Basically the rest of the day Rob and I ran around and fed Dale the ball. Shot, save (Brian), run (Rob and I), pass to Dale, bang-in-the-net the whole day. We won the B-side, losing only one game the rest of the tournament… short-handed the entire time. Rob and Dale are both gone now… me, I think I’ll pick up ball hockey again. And of course who can forget… the year the Cowboys won the cup! I still have that jacket, and plan to pass it on to my son. - Posted by: Jeff Fitchett (Friend) on: Oct 13, 2012

  • I first met Dale when playing hockey with his 2 brothers, Rick & Terry, Dale was always around the dressing room and you just knew he loved this game so much. He later went on to entertain me when he in turn played and became the 6th all time point getter, having played 326 games and collecting 614 ponts in the SEMHL. I observed him building a very successful business all due to the fact that he was smart and had such a warm personality. He always had a smile and a handshake whenever we met and after having read of his passing and now living on the east coast, I felt compelled to write a little something and to offer my deepest condolences to His Mom, Rick & Shirley, Terri and Lori, Robert and Arlene and also to his wife and children, whom I never had a chance to meet. He will surely be missed but never forgotten. - Posted by: Norm Roy (Friend of the family) on: Oct 10, 2012

  • I will always remember the ability to greet someone with a smile and have them feel welcome before saying a word. From our family to yours my deepest condolences. - Posted by: Michael Van Dorpe (Friend) on: Oct 10, 2012

  • I was so sorry to hear of Dale's passing. My sincere condolences to his family. I played hockey against Dale when he played for the Stampeders in the 80's and I'll always remember what a talented and classy player he was. He will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Wayne Giesbrecht (old hockey competitor) on: Oct 09, 2012

  • As a fellow insurance broker Dale was a stand up guy who was always willing to share his knowledge. As a fellow human being he was such an inspiration. During the years he battled cancer he never looked for pity or accommodations due to his illness. He was always upbeat and unwilling to appear negative. When you were around him you just naturally expected more from yourself because you know he was giving it 110%. My sincerest sympathies to the Rempel Family. - Posted by: Deb (Business Associate) on: Oct 09, 2012
