Date of Passing: Oct 06, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET SIMARD (nee MEADE) October 26, 1926 - October 6, 2012 Peacefully, in the early morning hours on October 6, 2012, mom passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital. Margaret is survived by her children Lenore, Billy (Linda) and Debbie (Clint). Margaret is also survived by her sister Martha and five brothers Teddy (Sheldon), Henry (Beatrice), Charlie (Thelma), Arthur (Alice) and Elmer (Agnes). She is also survived by five grandchildren Janice (Mel), Dave (Carol), Darla, Darin and Joey (Lindsay); her seven great-grandchildren Alysa, Rebecca, Maggie, Mikayla, Julia, Diedrich and Levi. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon. She was also predeceased by her father Allan, mother Elizabeth and four brothers Johnny, Adam, Frankie and Helgi. Mom was born and raised in Manigotagan. After her children were older she and Gordon moved to Selkirk where she worked at the Selkirk General Hospital and the Tudor House. Everyone who knew our mom loved her. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and auntie Margaret. She was everyone's best friend. People trusted her completely. Her phone never stopped ringing and her door was never closed. She never complained about anyone or anything. Even when she was ill, it never got her down. Her place was the best place to visit because she loved to make people laugh and be happy. Her passing will leave an emptiness in a lot of people's lives. It wasn't hard times that made mom strong, it was just who she really was. When she knew her time had come she said I had a good life, and I have no regrets. That was our mom! We know where she is going and that makes us happy. We were blessed to have had her in our lives. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 12:00 noon in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St. Selkirk, MB, with Fr. Stan Gacek officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Oh Aunty Margaret, I miss you! I miss our little talks about life, our laughs about anything and your very contagious smile! You always had a way of making me feel better no matter what the situation. I'm not sure if you knew how much you helped me during all those times of just needing to hear words of wisdom from you, you gave me such comforting feelings and infinite understanding, just to hear you call me "my girl" again I can't wait Aunty! I love you and hug my dad for me! Till we are all together again! - Posted by: Heather Boulette (niece) on: May 09, 2013

Lenore, Billy, Debbie and families. So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Every time I met Margaret she always asked about my family and she always had a big smile. She will be missed - prayers to all her family. - Posted by: Phoebe Thomas (Friend) on: Oct 15, 2012

I met Margaret, Gordon and their children in the early 60's when I was a child. She was always a pleasant, lovely lady and all three of her children were polite and very well mannered. My brothers, Nick and Ted, knew the family very well as they cut cordwood in Manigotogan and were good friends with the Simards. I remember spending a week's vacation by the lake with Lenore-my very first holiday ever. Sympathies to Lenore, Billy, Debbie and families, you are blessed to have had Margaret for a Mom. - Posted by: Kathy Krawchuk Fecio (Friend) on: Oct 13, 2012

Margaret was a very special friend to us all, and a great presence of Light in the world. Margaret made all our lives better, and contributed to making us better and happier people too. Margaret brought Joy to this miserable world, and that Joy was carried on and extended. We are so grateful to have been fortunate enough to have had a person like this in our lives. We will miss being able to talk and laugh with her, but we will surely all see her again. God Bless Everyone. - Posted by: Linda Quesnel, Wendy Wylie, Laura Krawchuk, John Krawchuk (friends) on: Oct 11, 2012
