Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID (LARY) JAMES February 26, 1938 - October 18, 2012 It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of David Lary James on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Concordia Hospital. Lary is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Annette, his son Ronald (and fiancé Katherine) living in Vancouver, B.C., daughter Lori-Ann (Randy), his grandchildren Tyler and Rhiannon and his furry canine buddy Kona all from Winnipeg. Lary is also survived by his brothers Kenneth (Jean) of Winnipeg and Robert (Laurie) of Gold Hill, Oregon, along with many extended family members, friends and colleagues. Lary was predeceased by his father Stanley and mother Jessie. Lary was born and raised in Transcona. He began work at the C.N.R. at a young age and remained there for 38 years before retiring in 1993. During his retirement years he spent a lot of time at the cottage at Brereton Lake where happy times were spent with family and friends. Woodworking was a great hobby since he retired, making unique crafts. He also loved to travel to different countries and go on cruises. Everybody knew Lary because of his fun and wonderful personality. Anyone who met up with him, no matter where, would have a smile on their face. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24 at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery Crematorium, 1800 Day Street, in Transcona. A public viewing will take place one hour before the service. In accordance to Lary's wishes, cremation will take place. For the last years of his life, Lary was dealing with health problems as a result of diabetes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lary's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice. Dad, you were always our hero, and our thoughts are always with you. I always loved being around Lary with his great smile and always something smart and funny to say. He treated me like a kid sister with warmth and affection and I can only imagine what a great husband and father he was. Rip Lary, knowing you did well and were loved by all who knew you.
