DEDSINA JANTINA (DESSA) WIND (nee VEGTER) 1935 - 2012 With sad hearts we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and friend on October 19, 2012. Dessa was predeceased by her mother, father, one brother and sister. Dessa leaves to mourn her passing nine brothers and sisters, her beloved husband Andy of 56 years, and her five children, Andy, Jerry (Ann), Bill (Sharon), Anita (Gilles) and Rob (Tricia), which were her pride and joy. She was adored and will be greatly missed by her 10 grandchildren. Dessa was born in Holwierum, Netherlands, and moved to Southern Alberta with her family in 1951. She lived on the family farm until 1956, at which time she met her husband Andy and together they moved to Winnipeg. Dessa eventually settled in Petersfield MB, where she enjoyed the peace and serenity of country living. Her happiest times were spent puttering in her yard, sitting by the creek, and spending time with her family, laughing and sharing memories. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Clandeboye United Church. 8456 Highway #9 (at Clandeboye Road). Flowers are gratefully declined; your thoughts and prayers are appreciated Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 224-1525

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Wind Family. I have many happy memories of our Kylemore days, she will be missed. - Posted by: Oriana Marinelli (friend) on: Oct 23, 2012

  • Mrs. Wind was the coolest mom on Kylemore...she was kind and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She always had a pot of tea brewed and would served those yummy cookies from Holland that were shaped like a windmill. Mrs Wind was known to make a good slush drink too! My condolences to the Family, may it be comforting to know that others are thinking of you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Barbara Magnifico-Tome and Family (Friend) on: Oct 22, 2012

  • Dessa was a great friend and neighbor. She always had time to chat and have coffee or tea ready. We spent many hours together on Kylemore Street laughing and talking. She loved a good joke or a bad one. Dessa was always ready to go for a trip to the mall or shopping. We even got our ears pierced together on a whim one day. She will be missed and thought of often. - Posted by: Harold & Kris Sprung (Friends) on: Oct 22, 2012
