LEONARD BENGER It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leonard Benger on October 25, 2012. Left behind to honour his memory are his son Gerald (Debbie) and grandsons Matthew and Andrew. He was predeceased by his loving wife Corinne (nee Hutchinson) in 2011, and his only brother Edward in 2010. Born in 1929, Len lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He started his working career with the C.P.R. and then moved to a position with the City of Winnipeg Public Works Department, retiring in 1989. Len was a hard working, reserved man who enjoyed volunteering in the community. He spent many hours officiating at provincial and national swimming events. He also volunteered for over 20 years with St. John's Ambulance. Len had a gift for landscape painting and for several years was a member of the Norman Art Group. Len also enjoyed snow sculpting and, in later years, wood carving. He was very supportive and proud of his two grandsons. He rarely missed their hockey and soccer games. Len spent a lot of time with Matthew and Andrew fishing, drawing, painting and working around the family cottage. Our fondest memories are of times spent building, swimming, boating, playing cards and relaxing on the dock at LacLu. Len was a devoted husband, father and granddad. He will be greatly missed, but we will cherish the memories. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Victoria General Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for their care and support. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Len's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, www.alzheimer.mb.ca THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
