RUTH LOUISE RUSK (RILEY) In the loving care of her family Ruth crossed over on October 17, 2012. Mom was a loving and giving Grammie, GG, Sister, Aunt and friend. Mom leaves her devoted daughters Valerie (Ray) Silvius and Susan Rusk; granddaughters Robin (Allan) Stacey - children Morgan, Brayden, Jillian; Lana (Myron) Boisjoli - children Sawyer and Aubrey. She is also survived by her brother John (Monica) Riley and sister Joan (Don) Wilson, a niece and several nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Helen Riley; sisters Beth McLeod and Georgina Garneys, and brother-in-law Ernie Garneys. Mom was born on April 27, 1926 at the family farm in Mair, SK. She spent her early years on the farm with her siblings. They became very close as the Riley children were left without their parents at a young age. The 1970s were very special for Mom when she became Grammie to her three adoring granddaughters. She was so proud of them and the Moms they are to her nine great-grandchildren making her a GG. Mom was a very creative seamstress, knitter, baker, and home maker. We will treasure the Christmas stockings she made for the entire family, every stitch made with love right down to our embroidered names. We are a family that celebrates every special occasion. Looking back we have a treasure chest full of memories of our dear Mom. In her midlife she started her career with Winnipeg City Social Services. She retired in 1991. She enjoyed her career, co-workers and found her job rewarding. Mom enjoyed our family van trip through the mountains to British Columbia to take in Expo. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with Susan to Florida, California, Mexico and her favourite spot the Maritimes. Mom had a deep faith in God and family, which was evident these past few weeks as she struggled with her illness. She felt comfort and safety nestled in the care of her family in most recent days. While her sudden illness was a shock, it gave us all opportunities to share our thoughts and no words were left unsaid. Her three favourite words, I love you , are entrenched in our hearts. As per Mom's wishes, our family will celebrate her life privately. Our family thanks Dr. J. E. Giesbrecht for her kind and compassionate care of Mom. If desired donations can be made to: Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6; CancerCare Manitoba, 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the charity of your choice. She loved this poem and repeated it often. It is how she lived her life. Just For Today Lord for tomorrow and its needs I do not pray; Keep me, my God, from stain of sin, Just for today. Now, set a seal upon my lips, For this I pray; Keep me from wrong or idle words, Just for today. Let me be slow to do my will, Prompt to obey, And keep me, guide me, use me Lord, Just for today.
