Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERRILL AUBREY WRIGHT September 25, 1939 - November 1, 2012 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Dad went to join his best buddy Meril just in time for the annual lunch. Dad will be sadly missed by his wife Gay, daughters Kelly (Wally), Cindy and son, Dean (Amanda), grandchildren Nick, Andrew, Josh, Tyler and Katie. Also left to remember Dad are his brothers Barry (Myrella), Briane (Jeanette) and Stu (Joyce), sisters-in-law Ursula and Vivianne (Bob) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including the St. Norbert gang. Born in Sudbury, ON and raised in Copper Cliff, Dad met the love of his life and they married 50 years ago on November 24. Together, they moved to Toronto, Calgary and finally settled in Winnipeg to raise their family. He is predeceased by his parents, Jean and Aubrey. Dad started his career with Manulife in 1960 and retired from Sears after 25 years. Dad was a good hockey player back in the day but switched to golf after a few too many old timer games. He took up curling and bowling but not fishing. Dad's friends called him Charlie Brown and he was also known as Wizard. Keep your stick on the ice Dad, we'll miss you. A come and go memorial reception will be held on Saturday, November 10 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd. 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a tribute at 7:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers: Nick Turski, Andrew Turski, Guy Chretien, Michael Chretien, Alain Landry and Wally Buikema. Many thanks to the staff at Victoria and St. Boniface Emergency and for the wonderful care from the doctors and nursing staff on the 4th floor at Victoria General. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation #200-6 Donald St. R3L 0K6. Words cannot explain the sadness I felt when I heard of Merrill's passing. On behalf of my father John and the rest of the Rankin family our thoughts and prayers are with Gay and all of the Wright family. I will never forget the laughter I shared with Merrill every Sunday night. An amazing man and the best father in law. I may have to buy a reclining chair to watch hockey on Saturday nights. - Posted by: Russ Rankin (Special son) on: Nov 08, 2012

I was truly saddened to hear of Merrill's passing. Condolences to Wife Gay & family. Merrill and I along with other "characters" shared many laughs at 10 pin bowling & golf, plus a few beers after. Merrill used to call me 'Capt. Crunch'. He was truly one of a kind and had a tremendous sense of humour. Farewll Wizard. - Posted by: Ron Truesdale - Now living in Qualicum Beach, B.C. My heart was filled with sadness upon hearing of Merrill's passing. He was indeed one of a kind! I have so many fond memories of him sitting in his favorite chair in the front room. He always had a smile on his face and loved to joke, tease and kid around with us. Although we are not really related, I have always felt part of your family and I will treasure my wonderful memories of Merrill forever. He will live in your hearts as he rests in peace. Our deepest condolences and love to you all, Leanne, Warren, Sarah and Abby. - Posted by: Leanne Brownley (Friend) on: Nov 07, 2012
