RAYMOND ANTONIO DUPUIS August 31, 1929 - November 3, 2012 Peacefully, on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Morris General Hospital, Raymond Antonio Dupuis passed away at the age of 83 years, surrounded by his loving family. Dad will be missed and lovingly remembered by Madeleine, his best friend and long time devoted partner, spouse and confidante of 60 years; daughter Doris (Arney); sons René (Lise), Denis (Joanne), Luc (Diane), Marc, and Normand (Jocelyne); 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters Claire and Agathe (Georges); one brother Léandre (Imelda); and one sister-in-law Yvonne. Raymond was predeceased by his father Rosario, mother Rosine, four sisters Héloise, Arthemise, Agnès and Alida, three brothers Rosaire, Wilfrid, and Benoit, three brothers-in-law Pierre, Hippolyte and Armand, and two sisters-in-law Cécile and Marie. Raymond spent all his life on the farm (his father's and grandfather's homestead) - something he cherished right to the end. He was strongly attached and devoted to his family, friends, church, pets and all living things. He loved his dogs (Babe...) and cats (tit Minou...). He loved old things - never wanting to throw anything away - he always found a way to give it a new life. He loved to travel, but not for too long because he needed to come back to his home base. He was a persistent and hard worker, could fix anything, even the most complicated thing - he would take time to study the situation, tackle it and if he failed the first time he would try again and again until the job got done - doing so right to the end, never giving up through the ups and downs. Knowing that his time on earth was running out he took full advantage of his remaining time by spending it with family and friends. To him, it was about doing it right or not doing it at all. In his own quiet and modest way, not one to want to draw attention to himself, serving his community was very important - mowing the grass at the Ste. Elizabeth Cemetery, rebuilding the rotting wooden crosses, lending a hand to his neighbours, or just being there when needed. During his well-deserved retirement years - many times, way too many to count - Raymond with Madeleine always next to him, went for coffee to meet cherished family and friends in Morris, St. Pierre, St. Malo and other surrounding communities. There were few people he didn't know. He loved to follow his children and grandchildren in the many ringette, hockey, softball and baseball games they played - it was about being there to support them and much less about winning and losing. The family wishes to thank CancerCare Manitoba (Dr. Czaykowski, Dr. Ahmed, Dr. Jason and supporting staff) and Morris General Hospital (Dr. Fraser, nursing and supporting staff) for their care and patience. In accordance with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at the St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morris with Father Damphousse officiating on Friday, November 9 at 10:30 a.m. preceded by the Eulogy at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Ste. Elizabeth Cemetery will be held following the lunch (Morris Legion Hall). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
