Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET (NETTIE) LANG CROSS July 10, 1911 - October 20, 2012 Peacefully at Tuxedo Villa on October 20, 2012 our Mom, Nettie Cross, passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; she was 101 years old. Left to cherish her memory are stepdaughter Jean (Dennis), daughter Lorna (Gilbert), daughter Lynne (Marty), son Alex (Dora), and son Walter (Linnea) grandchildren Kurt, Paul, Kay, Robert, Susan, Linda, Mike, Kathy, Julie, Cheryl, Shelly, Shannon, Jesse, Jodi, and Jillian, and many great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Nettie was predeceased by her husband Walter and her stepdaughter Marion and husband Bob, her granddaughter Cindy and Shannon's husband Troy, her parents William and Agnes Millar, sisters Agnes and Anne and brother Bill. Born in Motherwell, Scotland, she immigrated to Canada with family, taking up residence in Winnipeg where she graduated with Honours from Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. Living in Weston and working at Eaton's in downtown Winnipeg made for many long walks, a practise that was to become a hallmark of Nettie's life. In 1940 she married Walter Cross and was happily with him until his sudden passing in 1962. For years she played piano at church and later sung many duets with Dad at church and elsewhere. After Dad's passing, Mom enjoyed travelling to be with family, especially to Bermuda. Over the years she attended many churches in Winnipeg and Edmonton, most recently her beloved Grace Chapel in St. Vital, where she leaves many dear friends. According to her wishes, Mom was cremated. A private family interment service will take place on Saturday, November 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. A memorial service open to all is scheduled for Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at the same address. The family expresses their thanks to the caring staff of Extendicare Tuxedo Villa who treated her with love and dignity for the last years of her life. Donations in memory of Nettie Cross may be made to Faith Bible Camp, P.O. Box 42059, RPO Ferry Road, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3X7.
