ORYSIA ADELINE KUSTIAK It is with heavy hearts and deepest sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dearly beloved wife, mom and Baba, Orysia Adeline Kustiak on Sunday, November 18, 2012 with her family by her side. Orysia is survived by her loving husband, Stan, of 51 years, daughter Karen (Rick Drepko), sons Wayne and Jeff, grandchildren Christine, Stephen, Courtney and Aidan, sister Sylvia of Winnipeg, MB, brothers Walter of Simpson, SK, and Mike (Nadia) of Vernon, BC, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Orysia was predeceased by her parents Petronella and Nicholas, brothers Peter and Bill. Orysia was born on May 3, 1940 in Ethelbert, MB, where she lived on the farm until the age of 17, then moved to Winnipeg. It was there she met the love of her life, Stanley. They married in June of 1961 and raised three children. Mom adored her children and grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her. Mom was very energetic and full of life. Aside from working hard in her home, Orysia dedicated 17 years of her life at Holy Family Nursing Home as a Health Care Aide. Upon her retirement in 2005, Mom was able to devote her time to family and her love of gardening, cooking, quilting, crocheting, sewing and knitting. She enjoyed pickling, canning, preserves, making borscht and perogies and was very involved at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nursing staff at Health Sciences Centre. A special thank you goes to Nurse Colleen and Jake, Spiritual Helper, Zenon Scraba, Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus and Honour Guards and to the R.C.M.P. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church on 1001 Grant Ave. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Father Darren Kawiuk and Rev. Father Zachary Shwaluk OSBM presiding. Pallbearers are Brett Duseigne, Kenny Kustiak, Robert Kustiak, Tyson Kustiak, Jessie Kustiak, and Michael Nakonechny. Today I watched the prayer service for Uncle Stan. I’m sad because I couldn’t be there today for health reasons. I wanted to come here and pay tribute to you as well because I miss you. I can still hear your voice so clear and see your mannerisms. I was always so excited to see the two of you. We keep you alive in our memories and in our hearts. My mom refers to you often and ensure I know when a recipe comes from you. You are loved and you are missed - Posted by: Anilise Kustiak (Niece) on: Jul 02, 2024

It is with shock and sadness to hear so soon after seeing her so recently. She was one cousin that I always thought very highly of and loved because of who she was. Wishing the best to her family and my heart is with you - Posted by: Orest Swintak (Cousin) on: Nov 23, 2012

Wayne, Karen, Jeff and Stan, I'm very sorry to read this sad news. my thoughts are with you. I have very vivid and warm memories of your Mom, Orysia at your home on Howden road. Her cooking was one of the brightest memories of my childhood and I find myself talking about it and sharing stories of dinners at your home often as an adult. Wayne we always had a safe place to play as kids in your home and I don't ever remember an unkind look or word from your Mom no matter how badly we behaved and I may be wrong but I don't remember us being the easiest kids to deal with. The stability and security of your home is something I'll never forget. I will always remember Orysia's warm smile and her welcoming manner. - Posted by: Michael Kerr (Best Friend's Mom, neighbor,) on: Nov 22, 2012

My thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time. When we were neighbors on Howden Road, I remember your mom always had a beautiful smile. She was so friendly and always welcomed my brother Jimmy and I into your home. I also remember her as being a very hard-working mom spending hours in the kitchen making perogies and cookies. She will always have a special place in my heart. I have so many fond childhood memories of her and, of all of you. Take care of each other. - Posted by: Joanne Cairns (past neighbour) on: Nov 21, 2012
