EDNA PHYLLIS RAWLUK 1926 - 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our mother, Edna Rawluk and her companion Larry Armstrong on November 20, 2012. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Richard and Philip (Nicole), and Larry's daughter Yvonne and son Brett (Vee) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mum is also survived by her cousins Allan, Barry and Keith (Cherry) in England and will be sadly missed by many friends there; also by Sam (Joanne), Joyce and Dorothy Rawluk. Many nieces and nephews will fondly remember her as their Auntie Eddie. Mum was predeceased by her husband Tony (1987), infant son Alan (1947), father George (1961), mother Phyllis (2003) and stepfather Jim (1985). Mum was born and raised in England but immigrated to Canada after she married Tony at the end of the Second World War. They lived in St. Martin, MB where they farmed for a short while. When farming didn't work out they moved to Winnipeg. Edna spent many years working as the supervisor of housekeeping at the Airliner Hotel where she built lasting friendships. She was a member of the British Wives Club and a supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion. Larry Armstrong was mum's constant companion and partner for the last 20 or so years and we can't express enough how much we appreciated him. Larry's family became mum's extended family and the years that they shared were a very big part of her life. We will all miss you very much. Rest in Peace. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26 at 12:00 noon in the Christ Anglican Church, 227 McLean Avenue, Selkirk, Manitoba, with viewing taking place prior to. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • It was with great sorrow when we heard of the tragic passing of our dear Aunty Edna. Our most deepest condolences to your sons, Richard and Philip and Nicole. Truly, you were our most favorite Aunty of all because of your kind and loving nature towards all who knew and loved you within the family circle. One could never forget your kind, cheerful and great sense of humor you always showed towards us whenever you and Uncle Tony and the boys came over for a visit. Some things just come naturally to a person, and surely because of that, there is no doubt that you have earned your place in paradise and Heaven eternally. Rest in eternal peace now Aunty Edna, and one day we will meet again, and also those who we and you knew and loved who have gone ahead to that glorious place in the sky we as Christians know called "Heaven". - Posted by: Michael, Allan & Colleen Szklaruk (Nephews and niece) on: Nov 25, 2012
