Lil was born February 23, 1925 to Mathias and Elizabeth Reichert in Berlo, MB at home. She was the second youngest of 14 children. She attended Berlo School until the age of 16. After school she was employed at the summer camp for the needy in Camp Morton, MB. She then moved to Winnipeg and worked as a housekeeper on Dorchester Avenue from 1942 to 1944. For a short period she returned to the family farm and resided with her parents. On October 31, 1944 she married John Panteluk and they purchased their first farm and started raising their family. In 1962, they purchased the Panteluk family homestead where they raised their six children. Lil was a hardworking devoted farmer's wife. Her strong sense of family and values were evident right till the very end. Lil's happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Lil had many interests that included cooking, visiting with neighbours, playing cards, gardening and of course BINGO. She had a great sense of Community and always welcomed you into her home, no one ever left her house hungry, some of the family favourites were her perogies, krumba perogies, air and cinnamon buns and brownies. She was a faithful Catholic and attended Camp Morton Catholic Church where she was involved in and enjoyed many functions. Lil stayed on the farm for 10 years after John's passing. Lil found it very lonely on the farm, at which point Steve decided it was time for a new puppy. Cuddles provided her with great comfort and companionship for many years. She then moved to the New Harbour in Gimli for three years, and then resided at Arborg Personal Care Home for the last three and one half years. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their compassion and extraordinary care that they provided to Mom. This lovely lady turn a wrong turn after visiting her son for Thanksgiving. (October 1997). My dad and myself took her to my apartment in Wpg. There she called her son and he picked her up and made sure she made it home safely. She then sent me a Thank You card which i recently found. She said i was her guardian angel and invited me for coffee. Unfortunately and sadly i did not go which i very much regret. Reading her obit showed what a wonderful beautiful lady she was. I'm glad our paths crossed. - Posted by: Iris Yuzwa (friend) on: Feb 22, 2020
