RAJ SAMA It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Captain Raj Kumar Sama early morning on November 27, 2012 at his home at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Pushpa Sama, and his son, Sanjay Sama. He is survived by his children, Annu (Ashok) Dilawri, Sanjeev Sama, Seema (Sanjiv) Mehrotra. Left to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren: Dhiya, Kabeir, Anika, Sanjana, Suvir, Priya, and Rajesh. Captain Sama was born February 14, 1930 in Dalla, India, the first of five children. He was raised in Nagpur, and enrolled into the Indian Merchant Navy when he was 15. He married in 1955 and moved to Bombay, where he took a permanent post as a harbor pilot at the Bombay Port Trust. 12 years later he relocated to Singapore with his family and resided there many years as part of the Singapore Port Authority. He also had a short stint in the Middle East before immigrating to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with his family in 1988. While in Winnipeg, he enjoyed his retirement working part-time at the family business and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a gentle, kind and loving man, and nothing brought greater joy to him than spending time with loved ones. The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Madhuri Jain and Dr. Narinder Jain as well as Dr. K. S. Jolly for looking after his medical needs over the years. A funeral service will be held in his honour at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Prayers and Shanti Path will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Dr. Raj Pandey Hindu Centre, 999 St. Anne's Road.
