Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERI VON RAMIN (nee GERALDINE GREYEYES) (MCRAE) Geri was born on June 20 and just had celebrated her 65th birthday this past summer. She was born on the St. Peters Indian Settlement in Manitoba, known as Petersfield. On November 22, 2012 she passed suddenly. Geri was predeceased by her parents, Nancy J. and Norbert Greyeyes, her three brothers and six sisters. Geri is survived by her children, David McRae and Nancy McRae, grandchildren, Mallory, Stephanie, Kristen, Marcie, and Darian, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Linda (Ticky) Winoski, and sister-in-law Ina Greyeyes. Geri was fortunate enough to have two loves in her life, her first was George McRae, whom she married in 1964. They welcomed David and Nancy into the world. She married Barnim von Ramin in 1984. Geri attended the University of Manitoba, attained her Bachelors Degree of Social Work and was on the Dean's Honour Roll. She also attended Red River College receiving her diploma in Social Services. Her life career included such matters as social work, policy analysis, university assistant in Native Ed., researcher assistant and a very extensive history of community service, advocacy and activism. She will be missed by many friends, co-workers and family. As per Geri's wishes cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street in Selkirk, Manitoba on Saturday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place on her birthday in the summer of 2013 at the "Old Stone Church", so she may be with her mother and sister. I spoke to Geri @ Starbucks this past autumn, and told her she was still very beautiful and vibrant. I admired her as a trailblazer associate, and her personahood was very loving and accepting. I was in a show with Geri called Fit First and I am so blessed to have had the chance to know this strong loving woman. I know how much love she had for her family and friends. It showed as she spoke about each one and how she embraced each of us with encouragement and support. Mi will never forget her, she made a path in my heart.
