ANNIE CORNELSON (nee NEUFELD) 1924 - 2012 By faith we believe that the eternal and loving God called Annie by name on Friday, December 7, 2012, at 3:00 a.m. while residing at the lovely and caring River Park Gardens Personal Care Home in southern Winnipeg. Annie was a hospitable caring person who believed that she was called to love, serve and assist others whenever and wherever possible. She became a Practical Nurse through great effort. She often reflected and commented on her great learning and memorable experiences. Annie married Peter Cornelson of Boissevain, Manitoba in 1969, and became a wife, mother and grandmother to her new family. Her life's journey included birth in Russia and a long move to Canada where she lived with her family in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Annie Cornelson was an active member in the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church. She celebrated and cherished a deep Christian faith, she enjoyed worship, community and participating in local and worldwide service projects. Annie will be lovingly remembered by her Neufeld family, her Cornelson family and by her many friends whom she loved to refer to as family as well. Funeral service will be held at the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with viewing one hour prior to service. Interment will follow on Monday December 17 at the Boissevain and Morton Cemetery in Boissevain, Manitoba at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Annie's name to a charity of one's choice. • Anne was a true friend. I got to know her in 1957 when we were working together in the MCC VS unit in London, ON. Being the oldest member in the unit didn't deter her from taking part in all the fun things we did and she became a good role model for the rest of us. I was glad that she got to display her genuine caring in a family setting when she married into an established family. Rest in peace, Anne. - Posted by: Cora (Friend) on: Dec 14, 2012

  • Grandma (or Oma) was a wonderful grandma who came into the family later in life as the second wife of Grandpa Cornelson. She was much younger (never been married before) and "adopted" all of her grandchildren, their spouses, and great grandchildren as her own. (She had many great-grandchildren because of her young age.) Her youth and her special place in the family gave her the ability to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in very meaningful ways. We went to visit Grandma often and she played cards (Nuscht was her favorite), ate Pizza with us, made the best cookies, and always asked about our lives. She took a keen interest in our families. Oma called all of us grandchildren on our birthdays (even up the last few months) and told us she loved us and that she prayed for each one of us. I think of "Ruth" in the bible who also had many gifts and stayed with her new family. "She will go where we go and our God will be her God" Oma also had a fresh perspective of coming into a "new" family and had to work hard at relationships - but she had the gift of "family" without assuming her role. Her gift was to share her love for all of us. She was a blessing to us all. May you rest in peace. Love Tony - Posted by: Tony (Grandson) on: Dec 11, 2012

  • My deepest sympathy to Anne's family. I knew Anne only a short few years but to know her was to LOVE her. she always took the time to say hello to my mom and tell her a few kind words from her heart. she would hold her hand which gave comfort to my Mom during their stay together at River Park Gardens. Anne your Love will never be forgotten. rest in God's arms. we will never forget you! Love Robyn - Posted by: Robyn (friend) on: Dec 10, 2012
