WAYNE LESLIE THOMAS Suddenly on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, with his family by his side, Wayne Leslie Thomas, aged 67 years, passed away at his residence in Grand Marais, MB. Wayne is survived by his wife Denise; sons Randal (Susan) and Byron; grandchildren Dylan, Tyler, Alyssa, Skyler, and Shay-Lynn. He is also survived by his brothers, Edwin (Susan), Reg , Roderick (Cecile), Nelson (Sheldene); sisters Phoebe (Charlie), Helen (Wesley); sisters-in-law, Beatrice (Bill), Cecile (Abe), Annette (Ted), Esther (Barney), Bernice (Fred) and Eileen (Paul); and brothers-in-law Art (Tracey) and Bill. Wayne was predeceased by dad Roderick; mom Isabel; brother Lloyd; sister-in-law Florence; brother-in-law Victor; mother-in-law Madeleine; father-in-law Edgar and his niece Melissa. Wayne began working at a very young age. He had a long truck driving career with Simpson's Transfer and Bison Transport. He drove school bus for LSSD for nine years, then went back to trucking with Shane and Kerry Thomas for Reimer's Transport. In 1990, he began his career with Manitoba Hydro and worked there till his untimely passing. He was a volunteer fireman for the Grand Marais fire department for about 30 years. He also volunteered for the Grand Marais Metis local fish fry for 16 years. Wayne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. Wayne spent many enjoyable years ice fishing, snowmobiling, boating, curling, and camping with his family and friends. Viewing and prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, MB. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Grand Marais, with viewing one half hour prior to. Pallbearers will be Wayne Anderson, Rod Ducharme, Mark Ducharme, Curtis Thomas, Robert Thomas, and Fred Chartrand Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Orvis, Bryan Blake-Knox, Tania Hanslip and Derek Sanderson. The family would like to thank the Grand Marais fire department, and the Pine Falls paramedics for all their efforts.
